Patterson-Ricks Named Preseason All-MAAC
Canisius senior women's basketball player D'Jhai Patterson-Ricks was recently named to the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team, as announced by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on its annual preseason awards show, which is broadcast on ESPN3. Last year, Patterson-Ricks averaged 11.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in 30 games. In league play, Patterson-Ricks' averages climbed to 12.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. She ended the season ranked 11th in the MAAC in scoring average. Bender and Cornelia Earn MAAC Weekly Honors
After helping lead the Canisius women's swimming and diving team to a season-opening win over Rochester, junior Dana Bender and senior Gianna Cornelia were honored as the MAAC Female Swimmer and Diver of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday, October 16. Bender and Cornelia helped lead the Golden Griffins to a 193-102 win over Rochester October 11 in the team's first action of the 2019-20 season.

Malik Johnson Named Preseason All-MAAC
Canisius senior men's basketball player Malik Johnson was recently named to the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team, as announced by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on its annual Preseason Awards Show, which was broadcast on ESPN3. Johnson, who has started all 99 career games played during his time at 2001 Main Street, was an All-MAAC Third-Team choice at the end of the 2018-19 season after he averaged 9.6 points, 4.8 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game in 32 contests. Johnson and his Golden Griffin teammates officially tip off the 2019-20 basketball season on November 9 when the team plays at Brown.
